Challenged Athletes Foundation, Toyota and the New York Toyota Dealership to give life-changing grants to youth athletes with physical disabilities.

All are invited to attend Toyota Sports Festival at the New York International Auto Show where five life-changing surprise grant presentations will be made to New York/New Jersey area youth athletes with physical disabilities.

Toyota, in conjunction with their US Olympic and Paralympic sport partners, and Challenged Athletes Foundation, is holding the Toyota Sports Festival at the New York Auto Show hosting free adaptive sports like wheelchair basketball, hand cycling, sled hockey and skateboarding to create meaningful and inclusive experiences. In addition to the sport experience, Team Toyota and Team USA Wheelchair basketball 2x gold medalist, Steve Serio, will present grants for adaptive sports equipment and training expenses. Steve’s local team, The Rolling Knicks will also have a basketball wheelchair game scrimmage for spectators to watch. As a leader in the adaptive sports movement, Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) will present alongside Toyota -its’ Official Mobility Sponsor and the New York Toyota Region, five life-changing grants.

CAF and Toyota have a shared mission in providing mobility for people of all abilities. With previous stops in Park City, Los Angeles, Chicago and ending in New York, the festival boasts Team USA athlete and VIP meetups, autograph signings and surprise life-changing grants.

About the Speakers:

Keith Kerman is a Deputy Commissioner at the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) and NYC’s first Chief Fleet Officer, serving 50 agencies including NYPD, FDNY and DSNY. NYC operates the nation’s largest municipal fleet with over 28,000 fleet units, nearly $1 billion in annual expenditure, and 1,800 staff. NYC Fleet is a national leader in EV adoption, charging, telematics, biofuels, Vision Zero, shared services, and more.

Keith is a permanent civil servant in his 29th year including 17 with NYC Parks working from Central Park as Assistant Commissioner of Citywide Operations. Keith has now served in senior roles under four NYC Mayors.

In 2019 Keith received the Sloan Public Service Award, referred to as the Nobel Prize of NY public service. In 2021, Keith received a national Climate Leadership Award from the Climate Registry, C2ES, and Bloomberg Philanthropies. In 2022, Keith received a Legendary Lifetime Achievement Award by a vote of his peers and awarded by Government Fleet Magazine.

Keith is from Massachusetts and Harvard College, where he met his wife Denise, an attorney who works for Bloomberg LP. They have two children, Todd and Keith, and are dual residents of Pelham and Manhattan

The 2023 World Car Finals concluded yesterday at the New York International Automobile Show with a triple win for the Hyundai Motor Company. The HYUNDAI  won the overall 2023 World Car of the Year title, the 2023 World Electric Vehicle as well as the 2023 World Car Design of the Year awards. Visitors to the New York Auto Show will be able to see, explore and ride in the new IONIQ 6 at Hyundai’s Test Track April 7-16.

In addition, SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President, Head of Hyundai and Genesis Global Design Center, Hyundai Motor Company, was at the New York Auto Show at the awards ceremony to participate in a Q&A with media and receive his 2023 World Car PERSON of the Year trophy.

“This honor reinforces our commitment to be a global leader in vehicle electrification and will serve to embolden our efforts as a smart mobility solutions provider,” said Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company. “.”

2023 marks the 18th year of the World Car Awards’ partnership with the New York International Auto Show.

“We salute all of this year’s finalists and are pleased to be part of the most important automotive awards program on the planet,” said New York Auto Show president, Mark Schienberg. “For nearly two decades the partnership between World Car and the New York Auto Show has recognized the very best the auto industry has to offer. I think visitors to this year’s Show will be amazed to see the World Car winner on the Show floor,” he continued.

A jury of 100 distinguished international automotive journalists from 32 countries selected the winners by secret ballot based on their evaluation of each eligible vehicle as part of their on-going professional work. The vote results were tabulated by KPMG.
